SORA Modification Granted, Risk Level Lowered From 3 to 1
In 2002, our client was adjudicated a Level 3 on the registry. In the intervening 23 years, our now 70-year-old client had complied with all reporting conditions placed on him and had never sexually reoffended or committed any crime. Appellate Advocates filed a petition for modification, citing to his time at liberty without any reoffense, successful completion of years of intensive sex offender therapy, profound remorse for his past conduct, committed long-term relationship, community ties, stable housing, ongoing voluntary involvement in Narcotics Anonymous to assist others, advancing age, and severe medical conditions. Following a hearing, the court granted the modification, adjudicating our client a Level 1.
