Court Decision: SORA Modification Petition Granted, Level Reduced From 2 to 1

Supreme Court, Richmond County: People v. [redacted]

SORA Modification Petition Granted, Level Reduced From 2 to 1

Our client was convicted of a misdemeanor sex crime in 1993 and was sentenced to probation. After completing supervision in 1996, he followed all SORA registration requirements, never re-offended, underwent years of treatment, and maintained a stable living situation. His modification petition was supported by his wife of 24 years, his children, friends, and treating therapist. The Court granted the modification petition to Level 1, commending our client on his exemplary behavior since 1996 and finding there was clear and convincing evidence that he posed a low risk of any re-offense.
