Assistant Attorney-in-Charge


William G. Kastin joined Appellate Advocates in 2002, was a Supervising Attorney for nine years beginning in 2013, and is currently an Assistant Attorney-in-Charge. He has successfully argued dozens of cases in the Court of Appeals and Appellate Division and assists in overseeing the office’s Sex Offender Registration Act practice. In March 2023, William successfully obtained the exoneration of a client who had been wrongly convicted of murder and imprisoned for more than 18 years.

William clerked in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and in the New York State Supreme Court. He graduated from New York Law School cum laude in 1993, where he was the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Human Rights, published an article about the rights of criminal defendants in high publicity cases, and received an American Jurisprudence Award for Constitutional Law and Appellate Advocacy. He attended college at Boston University and received his B.A. in Political Science with honors.
