Elia Johnson is a graduate of Columbia University School of Social Work with a Master of Science in Social Work with a concentration in public policy and a minor in law. Prior to taking the position of Director of Social Work at Appellate Advocates, she held the position of Client Services Director at the Office of the Appellate Defender and prior to that worked at Brooklyn Defender Services in the Adolescent Defense Practice. Elia has also held positions at the Correctional Association of New York, New York Psychiatric Center and Center for Court innovation. Elia has been SIFI certified since 2016 to provide supervision to social work students. Elia holds a B.A. in Psychology from Barnard College.
